Our Techniques

Dr. Sarah combines multiple chiropractic techniques taught in chiropractic colleges as well as post-graduate technique studies to provide the best chiropractic care possible.

Thompson
This is a specific chiropractic method, a variation of the Diversified technique that uses a special table with several segments called drop pieces. These segments are cocked up a fraction of an inch, so when the thrust is delivered, the table will drop. The object of the drop is to distract (open) the joint during the adjustment. The drop pieces assist the thrust while minimizing the force required for the adjustment.

Activator
The Activator Methods® Adjusting Instrument is a handheld spring-loaded tool that delivers a consistent low-force, high-speed impulse to the spinal segment. Because it’s many times faster than adjustments delivered by hand, the body rarely tightens to resist, making adjustments comfortable and effective. It’s also helpful for adjusting elbows, wrists, knees,  and the other joints of the body.

NET (Neuro-Emotional Technique)
NET is a psychotherapeutic/chiropractic system that combines a number of techniques and principles from traditional Chinese medicinechiropractic and applied kinesiology. It is a holistic approach to health, focusing on imbalances in the musculoskeletal system, unresolved “negative emotional blocks,” toxins in the body, and any deficiencies in nutrition. NET describes “negative emotional complexes” (NEC) as being stored in the body, and helps to release or resolve them. Patients report they are less stressed, happier, and feel more at ease after treatment with NET.

Diversified
A widely used type of chiropractic adjustment and the most commonly used of all chiropractic techniques, the Diversified adjustment entails a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust that usually results in a cavitation (the popping noise often associated with a chiropractic adjustment) of a joint.

Cranial Technique
This is not a specific/isolated chiropractic technique, but several techniques using the application of chiropractic adjustment to joints of the skull. Because the individual anatomies of skull joints are different, the style of adjustment is different and no cavitation occurs.

CRA (Contact Reflex Analysis)
Contact Reflex Analysis, simply stated, is an energy connection. It is a technique that utilizes a muscle response as an indicator and assessment of the energy status of each organ, gland, system, or structure. This energy assessment is accomplished by testing one or more reflexes, which are similar to acupuncture points and meridians, and monitoring the reactance of the muscle when in contact with these points. The more the body reacts when an energy imbalance is located, the weaker the muscle. In CRA, the practitioner typically applies a single, downward push on the wrist of a patient’s outstretched arm while also making contact with a specific reflex point on the patient’s body. The gentle, but firm, push is like a subtle “question” and the muscle reactivity response is the “answer.”
