Sarah VanValkenburg has been a part of Barker Chiropractic’s family since 2007 when she worked as a chiropractic assistant until she decided to follow in the footsteps of it’s founder, Dr. David K. Barker. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in human biology as well as her Doctorate of Chiropractic, licensed in the state of California. She has also completed her post-graduate studies specializing in Prenatal and Pediatric Chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). In addition, she has diligently studied the work of Dr. David K. Barker as well as the techniques utilized in his practice of 39 years. Her passion for chiropractic exudes in her work with each and every patient she encounters. She is dedicated to continuing the legacy of her late mentor Dr. David K. Barker. In her words, “I am thrilled and grateful to be an integral part of Santee’s healthcare community and will devote myself to the health and happiness of every single one of my patients.”

Dr. David K. Barker, D.C. graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1975 and is licensed in the states of California and Arizona. He has completed post-graduate studies with Dr. Russell Earhart in pathology and radiology, spinal column stressology under Dr. Lowal E. Ward, and Contact Reflex Analysis (muscle testing kinesiology) under Dr. D.A. Versendal.
Dr. Barker brought high quality, professional chiropractic care to East County San Diego in 1976. Besides his clinic in Santee, he was with Dr. E.V. Jesperson in El Cajon for 2 years. Dr. Barker also had a clinic in La Mesa from 1977 to 1987 with his brother Dr. Dennis W. Barker and, now, his Santee clinic since 1981.
Over all the years, Dr. David K. Barker has developed a technique that is very gentle yet extremely effective.
It has been our pleasure at Barker Chiropractic to have served the Santee community since 1981. Our goal is to educate, inspire and help heal our patients and those in our surrounding communities through natural chiropractic care. Our purpose is to be the premier center of optimal health, function and wellness serving all of San Diego County.
